A two-vehicle head-on collision on Lowcountry Hwy. south of Cane Branch Rd, critically injured three people. Tuesday afternoon on July 9th, 911 received the reports of the accident involving a northbound Chevrolet pickup and a southbound Lexus. The collision heavily damaged both vehicles and trapped the occupants of the Lexus in the vehicle. Colleton County Fire-Rescue sent 3 ambulances and 2 trucks to the scene, which upon arrival, found the highway blocked. CARE Flight responded and landed in the field at Sniders Crossroad. Medic 1 transported a female passenger to meet with CARE Flight. CARE Flight flew the patient to the Trauma Center at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. Medic 13 transported an adult male to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center and Medic 18 transported an adult male to the Trauma Center at MUSC. Lowcountry Hwy. around the accident was closed for two hours. The Sheriff’s Office detoured traffic during the closure. The SC Highway Patrol is handling the investigation of the accident.
