Posted

A truck driver received multiple injuries after the semi-truck he was driving left Interstate 95 at the McLeod overpass. The southbound truck and fuel trailer drove down the embankment, struck the guard rail, then crossed McLeod Road and struck the guardrail on the other side driving up the south embankment. The truck received heavy damage. An off-duty Hendersville NC firefighter also traveling on I-95 stopped to render aid to the truck driver. Colleton County Fire-Rescue units arrived minutes later and continued medical treatment. Fortunately, the trailer was new and was not carrying a load. McLeod Road was partially blocked due to the accident. The driver was transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center by Fire-Rescue. The SC Highway Patrol and State Transport Police are investigating the accident.
