T-Mobile employees cut the ribbon recently and welcomed their first customers into the new local store.

Located at 1576 Bells Highway next to Starbucks, the American wireless network opened on March 19th and is ready for business.

Appointments to get into the store can be made but are not required.

Jeremy Ware, of the Walterboro-Colleton Chamber of Commerce, said last week that he is pleased to welcome T-Mobile at the ribbon cutting ceremony. “We want to welcome this business to Colleton and thank them for their investment in our community,” said Ware. “We wish them well and continued growth. We are happy to be a part of it,” he added.

T-Mobile’s Walterboro Manager Spencer King said, “We are so happy to be in Walterboro,” said King. “For the first time ever, the ‘uncarrier’ is coming to rural communities.

“We are excited to be here and ready to welcome in clients and become part of the community. We have loads of specials; we have the best deals in town and the best plans for your phone, smartphones, tablets, audio devices and accessories, and we always provide the most value for your money,” he said.

According to Roni Singleton, Sr., manager of PR & Corporate Communications, T-Mobile has expanded its 5G and 4G LTE network across South Carolina, including in Walterboro, giving customers in the area much faster wireless speeds and overall coverage. T-Mobile 5G network delivers 5G speeds in more places with the first and largest nationwide 5G network, covering more than 270 million people across 1.4 million square miles, said Singleton.

Hours of operation for T-Mobile is Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“This gives us another option and T-Mobile is a great business. We are really happy to have them here,” said Morrison Payne, a Walterboro attorney and member of the local Chamber of Commerce.

T-Mobile is the third-largest wireless carrier in the United States, with 100.3 million subscribers as of 2020.
