Mr. Raymond Anthony Smyly, known by all as “Tony”, age 60, of Ruffin, entered into rest Monday morning, July 17, 2023,  at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Born January 1, 1963, in Walterboro, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Raymond Edward Smyly and the late Sarah Ann Hiers Smyly.  Tony was a retired Supplier Quality Engineer with Parker Hannifin in Beaufort which was an auto part  production company.  He was an active member of Faith Walterboro where he was a part of the Prayer Team.  He centered his life around his family, doing all that he could for those he loved.  He was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting cookouts and sharing that time with others as well as many dishes that were of his particular recipe.  He was skilled at wood crafting and even for a short while operated a business in doing such with his cousin, Chris.  One of his greatest pastimes was spending time in the Great Smokey Mountains and being at his home with his beloved wife in Dandridge, Tennessee. 

Surviving are: his wife of thirty-seven years, Katherine “Kathy” Ehney Smyly; four sons, Raymond Anthony “T.J.” Smyly, Jr., William English Smyly (Elizabeth), Bryce Edward Smyly, and Charles Tanner Scott Smyly all of Ruffin; a sister, Yvonne Smyly Herndon (Benjie) of Ruffin; a brother, Greg Smyly (Donna) of Ruffin; and two special nephews, Brantley Walling and Joe Lasher.  He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Ehney of Islandton; and dear friends, Kenneth and Maria Godbold, Eric Carver, Mark Mosley, Gaspar Neto, and Charlie Carpenter.  He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kim Lasher (Joey); and by a brother-in-law, William Ehney, III.

Funeral services were conducted at 5 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 21, 2023, from Faith Walterboro, 858 Bells Highway, Walterboro.  The Reverend Daryl Hunt officiating.   The family received friends following the funeral ceremony at the church.
