Sisters in Action and Ladies of Excellence

Posted

My name is Sonya Stephens, the Graduation Coach for Colleton County Middle School 8th Grade Cohort and director of the Sisters in Action and Ladies of Excellence Organization. I’ve been working for CCSD since 1992 assisting students with redirecting their lives, helping them to make sound choices concerning their education, career paths and community services.

Our program results in the increase of confidence, courage, educational and personal development. This group of young ladies is made up from several grade levels ranging from 6th-8th Middle School and 9th-12th grade Colleton County High School.

In the process these students have decided to change their lives holistically. We are a prevention and empowerment program that helps to expose them to different cultural events.

We have planned and completed several events and projects for the 2023-2024 school year. We are excited about the remaining upcoming events. We are in the process of scheduling several parents’ workshops on financial wellness, college pathways, anti-bullying and teen pregnancy prevention, during the months of April, May and June.

We have also scheduled our yearly end of year educational field trip to Atlanta Ga, where they will visit, the World of Coca Cola, CNN, Atlanta Zoo, Aquarium, and the Botanical Gardens. Because of limited time we were unable to complete our fundraising projects.

We will appreciate any support that you and your business can give toward assisting CCMS, Sisters in Action and Ladies of Excellence with their upcoming events. The funds will be used for the following. Chartered Bus, Home Rental, Food, and entrance into the events

Our last fundraiser will be on June 8th 2024 where we will have a semi-formal adult dinner and jazz entertainment. The tickets for the dinner are $25.00 for a single person and $45.00 for a couple. The dinner will be country eating in a jazzy style, meaning there will be plenty of food, giveaways and music. Tickets can be picked up at The Press and Standard (843-549-2586, 1025 Bells Highway), Colleton County Middle School (843-782-0040, 1379 Tuskegee Airman Drive) and The Bountiful Blessings Gift Shop, Mrs. Tammy Breland (843-599-6305, 1029 Bells Hwy) in Walterboro.

The remaining cost for the Educational Trip is $5850.00. Please if you can find it in your budget to assist us it will be greatly appreciate. Also, if you need information to use for your tax purpose please let me know.

Please make all checks out to CCMS Sisters in Action . Thanking you in advance for your continual support.

Empowering and Impacting the Community 2023-2024 Activity Proposal

Why is this program needed?

In an effort to force positive changes in our community, Sisters in Action believes that by empowering and supporting young girls, an impactful change within our community would be inevitable.

Who are we?

Sisters in Action and Ladies of Excellence is an organization specifically designed to empower young girls through mentoring, community service, and education.

What do we do?

Sisters in Action and Ladies of Excellence is a team of community constituents working collaboratively to help promote a healthy self-image, strong self-esteem, good work ethic, and sound morals to develop well-rounded educated young women.

The advisors and constituents will conduct a series of classes specifically designed for girls in middle and high school to help foster a positive experience during an awkward stage in life to build a strong sisterhood among young girls.

How?
