Mr. John Thomas Simmons, known affectionally by many as “Buck” and “J.T.”, age 35, of Ruffin, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023, at his residence. Born July 16, 1988, in Hilton Head, South Carolina, he was the son of Thomas Martin Simmons, Jr. and Tammi Roxanne Padgett Simmons. He was a lead technician with Utiliquest. He dearly loved the outdoors and always centered his life around his family whom he adored. Most any conversation he had involved hunting and fishing and he will always be remembered as the master of redneck ingenuity. Surviving in addition to his parents of Bluffton are: his wife of nine years, Caitlin Simmons; a daughter which was the light and love of his life, Norah; grandmother, Rita Simmons of Summerton; mother-in-law, Melody Craven and her husband Bill of Ruffin; father-in-law, Heath Jones and his wife Lori of Walterboro; and three sisters-in-law, Rachel Craven (David), Loranda Salisbury (Cody), and Caroline Jones (Mikey); as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by two dear friends whom he loved as his brothers, Arthur Temple and Chris Kelly. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Tom Simmons; maternal grandparents; J.D. and Jean Padgett and an uncle, Kevin Simmons.
