Over 70 poll managers are needed for the Democratic Presidential Primary on Feb. 29; 120 for the statewide Republican and Democratic primaries scheduled for June 9 and any runoffs on June 23; and then 120 for the statewide General Election ending the election season on Nov. 3. In each of the elections, all of the county’s 32 precincts will be in operation.

Those interested in applying to work the elections may call the voter registration office at 843-549-2842, visit the office at 2471 Jefferies Hwy., Walterboro, or email the office at voterregistration@colletoncounty.org.

The implementation of the new ElectionWare equipment in November’s election went well. “The delivery and pickup of election equipment for the November election went well, but it did not include all 32 polling locations — only 10. I am currently working with Kevin Griffin (county administrator) about the delivery and pickup of the election equipment for next year. It will be finalized soon,” said Angela Upchurch, Voter Registration director.

According to Upchurch, “The poll workers were pleased with the new process as well as the voters. As you know, it is all very new and next year’s elections will have many more poll managers, as well as voters, using it for the first time. But we were pleased at how well the new machines were received.”
