Fire-rescue responded to a structure fire in a 20x20 workshop on of Symly Road north of Ruffin Saturday October 21. The occupants were cooking when grease started the fire. The occupents notified 9-1-1 and extinguished most of the fire with a garden hose. Engine 18 arrived to find light smoke coming from the small building and deployed one handline. Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire around the doorway. Quick action by the homeowner saved the building and kept damage to a minimum. No injuries were reported. The building suffered moderate damage.
