School district meal system working well so far

Posted

Colleton School District bus drivers and nutrition staff have delivered thousands of meals to students since Wednesday March 18 to help support our community as we work to #flattenthecurve in response to coronavirus.
CCSD was one of the first districts in the state to begin meal deliveries to students following Governor Henry McMaster’s March 15 order to close all public school districts. These no-cost, grab-and-go meals are available to any student and will be distributed Monday through Friday.
Each grab-and-go bag will contain breakfast and lunch items, so only one trip will need to be made each day. Buses delivering food begin their routes at 9 a.m., and most complete all their deliveries by 11 a.m.
CCSD Interim Superintendent John Tindal personally rode one of our buses Wednesday to observe meal distribution, and he is happy to report that our system is performing as designed.
“Please know that we will be here to support our students and their parents throughout the closure of our schools,” Tindal said. “If we may be of assistance to you in any way, please do not hesitate to let us know.”
We are continuing to finetune our meal delivery system, and we will adjust schedules as needed. Any changes to our meal deliveries will be announced on colletonsd.org, via phone dialers, and in the local media.
We will continue these deliveries Monday through Friday while our district remains closed.

Colleton County School District will remain closed from March 16-31, and will reopen on April 1, in compliance with this closure order. Any changes to this scheduled closure will be immediately communicated to our community on our website (colletonsd.org), through our phone dialers, mass emails, and releases sent to local media.
Food for students is also available by picking up a grab-and-go bag at the following locations from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.:
