The Walterboro Rotary Club sponsored the eighth annual Ireland Creek Bridge Run on Thursday, October 13th, 2022. Registration and the starting line were located at the Ireland Creek picnic area. The runners launched into motion at 6:00 pm.

The mile-long race was followed by the presentation of awards and a chicken bog meal.

The Rotary has a long history of community service projects, with a reach that starts locally within the community and continues to stretch further on a global scale. A few of the projects the Rotary Club supports include the eradication of polio, Alzheimer’s research, and the provision of clean water in developing countries.

Bill Steadman from the Walterboro Rotary shared that the Ireland Creek Bridge Run is a fundraiser organized to help raise funds for a local community charity called Colleton County First Steps, which is directed by Cindy S. Riley. The partnership between the two service organizations has been able to provide clothing and toys for children in need for several years.

The winners of this year’s run include:

Youth Division Female 1-Emma Gladstone, 2-Leslie Sosaprerez

Youth Division Male: 1-Michael Witkin, 2-Lashombra Johnson, 3-Julian Snelgrove

Adult Division Female: 1-Holland Manness

Adult Division Male: 1-Caleb Yaeger, 2-Lucas Nettles, 3-Craig Stivender.
