The 19th annual 2022 Walterboro Criterium was held on April 27th and drew a crowd of spectators and participants. The event featured a children’s race.
Then, a slew of professional cyclists from across the nation followed a race course through the streets of downtown Walterboro, all in a high-speed pursuit at a chance for an $8,500 cash purse.
The race is part of the USA CRITS Speed Week, which includes nine days of racing. In the middle of this 9-day event, racers travel to Walterboro to participate in the Walterboro Criterium.
Amateur races began at 4 p.m., followed by the children’s bike race at 5:30 p.m. The featured race started at 7:20 p.m. and included cyclists rolling through 50 one-mile laps.
