WALTERBORO, SC - The Colleton County School Board of Trustees passed a $51,240,908 budget featuring a major salary increase for district employees on Monday, July 11, 2022, in order to help our school district, remain competitive with other counties.

The major components of this 22-23 Fiscal Year budget are listed below:

• Increased each teacher salary, on our salary scale, by $4,000

• Increased teacher salary scale from 23 steps to 25 steps

• Increased certified salary scale from 23 steps to 25 steps

• Retired teachers are now paid on step 24

• Increase in retirement employer share by one percent

• 9.05% health insurance increase (18.01 for the whole year)

• Increase in bus driver salary of eight percent (beginning bus driver pay will now be 14.58 on the salary scale).

In addition, the district has completed an extensive salary study. Using the data from the study, all salaries were increased, unless the position had a change in salary classification.
