People set up ring cameras to protect themselves against break-ins, porch pirates, and the occasional package not delivered quite right by package delivery companies. In an unexpected turn of events the Ring camera on a home in Walterboro seems to have captured a USPS truck running over the homeowners’ dog with slowing down or stopping. The dog, Yogi, did survive the impact, but the injuries he sustained could result in the amputation of his leg. Among Yogi’s injuries are internal injuries, a broken femur, internal injuries, spinal injuries, and a dislocated hip. Euthanization is a possibility.

Yogi’s owner maintains the postal worker is aware of Yogi and has petted him on occasion. The postal worker maintains they were not aware they hit the dog. The postal worker could be sued for negligence or even hit and run. They will be charged with citations under the Colleton County Code of Ordinances. Colleton County Animal Services is handling the incident. For more information visit www.live5news.com
