Black Street is proud to share how our school community continues to make a difference beyond our school walls. Recently, we were able to donate yoga mats to support Golden Years Sanctuary in Cottageville—a senior cat sanctuary lovingly run by the incredible Jen Larson.
Jen uses the yoga mats throughout the cats’ living spaces to create soft, comfortable places for them to rest. She even places them under bedding for extra cushioning, helping make life a little cozier for her senior residents.
We encourage you to check out Golden Years Sanctuary on Facebook to see the amazing cats Jen cares for and the love she pours into everything she does. A special thank-you as well to Laura Clark for making this meaningful connection possible.
We are also proud to share how our students are using their creativity to brighten our school! Students worked together to create an Interpretive Owl Sanctuary, now proudly displayed in our lobby—be sure to check it out when you visit.
All the children at Black Street worked diligently to create and decorate this beautiful sanctuary under the guidance of their art teacher, Mrs. Mulligan. The students decorated eggs and collected leaves, twigs, and sticks to help bring the display to life. Mrs. Roberts thoughtfully assembled all the pieces so everyone could enjoy the final creation.
This special project was truly a joy for all involved. Hoot! Hoot! Hoot!
We continued our animal theme this month with the celebration of our 101st Day of School. Students created dalmatian shirts in art class and wore them to commemorate the learning they have accomplished throughout the year. Staff and students alike enjoyed participating in the celebration and recognizing their collective achievements.
