The Colleton County Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met with newly hired teachers and staff on Sept. 17, 2026, at the Colleton County School District Office. The Zeta sisters donated gently used clothing and household items such as kitchen utensils and equipment, bed linens, plates, and glasses for the new employees. Under the direction of Catherine Fanchette, Coordinator of Educator Effectiveness, the new educators met to hear details about training and orientation while the veteran teachers, both active and retired, offered advice and support. Zeta, the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, was formed in 1943. The international organization is comprised of key women educators throughout the United States and in sixteen foreign countries. The members of Zeta include actively employed and retired educators who support educational causes locally, statewide, and internationally. The chapter also provides financial aid annually to a graduating senior. For information about becoming a member, call Celeste Stone, Zeta chapter president, at 843-549-7658.
