An adult male suffered multiple traumatic injuries when his utility truck left the roadway at a high rate of speed after he swerved to avoid hitting several deer and struck a large tree on Jacksonboro Road, January 13th. The truck suffered heavy damage, with the utility body separating from the frame. The driver was trapped in a small space against the driver’s door and survived. He was conscious and communicated with rescuers during extrication. Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the truck against the tree with debris littering Jacksonboro Road. Once freed from the wreckage, he was transported by Colleton County Fire-Rescue to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
