A male motorcyclist was critically injured in an accident on US-21 near Plum Tree Lane. The rider was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle ran into a ditch, struck a driveway culvert, flipped over several times, and was thrown from the bike. The rider was wearing a helmet but was unconscious following the collision. Colleton County Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and began treating the man. Paramedics began treatment on the scene and requested a medical helicopter for transport. CARE Flight responded and flew the man to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
