Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics saved a Green Pond home on March 20th. A storage building fire occurred on Springhill Road. The fully involved storage building was located next to a doublewide mobile home. The flames spread to the mobile home. Crews quickly knocked down the flames on the mobile home and then worked on the storage building which was fully involved. The fire originated from an unattended outdoor debris pile fire. Light winds spread the fire through the yard to the storage building, which then spread to the mobile home. The family was able to safely evacuate the home. A Firefighter-Paramedic received a leg injury after an aggressive canine attacked him at the scene. He required medical treatment at a medical facility. The mobile home suffered damage to the south end of the building, but the flames did not enter the interior and the family was not displaced.
