A single wide mobile home, vehicle and approx. 1-1/2 of woods was destroyed by fire on Dicks Hill Road, Saturday, February 7th. Colleton County Fire-Rescue arrived to find a mobile home on fire with half of the structure had
already collapsing. The surrounding woods and a Jeep were also on fire. Firefighter-Paramedics deployed three handlines to extinguish the fires and
tenders were brought in to supply water for the firefighting effort. Crews had the bulk of the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes but were on the scene for two hours performing overhaul. Two other vehicles were also damaged from heat. No one was at home when the fire occurred. The fire is believed to have started from an unattended burn barrel next to the mobile home. Dry conditions and light winds spread the fire.
