The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop on September 17th at 2:15 in the morning. According to the Press Release from the Sheriff’s Department issued on September 23rd, the stop was initiated after the driver of the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop and neglected to use a turn signal at Barracuda Road and Live Oak Street in Walterboro. The vehicle contained 4 passengers; the driver was given traffic warnings for the violations and released, as was another passenger. The Sheriff’s Department conducted a probable cause search that resulted in two passengers, Lee Shalaine Guess and ShariAnn Matthews, being arrested and charged with multiple drug offences. Guess was charged with trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine, simple possession of marijuana, and revocation of bond related to a previous charge. She was denied bond. Matthews was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $12,500.
