Minister Anna S. Bright to Speak for Mother’s Day Service at New Life United Methodist Church

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, the public is cordially invited to attend Mother’s Day Service at New Life United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. The speaker for this occasion will be Minister Anna Stevens Bright. She was licensed into the ministry in 2003, at Friendship Liberty Baptist Church in Walterboro, by her late mother Reverend Dr. Evelyn Gelzer Stevens. Minister Bright served in various capacities at Friendship. Her nephew, Reverend Keith G. Stevens is the Pastor. Currently, she attends church with her husband Lay Speaker Herman G. Bright, at Isaiah United Methodist Church, where Reverend Destine Spells serves as the Pastor.

A 1973 honor graduate of Walterboro High School, Minister Bright is a 1977 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Claflin University. She has done graduate study at other universities in South Carolina and Alabama. In 2018 she retired from the Colleton County School District after having served forty years as a classroom teacher in both Alabama and South Carolina. Currently, she teaches part-time at Colleton Academy for Success. She is very actively involved in Colleton County in several social and civic organizations. Minister Bright is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life motto is “If I can help somebody, then my living shall not be in vain.”
