The Colleton Prep War Hawk Baseball team is now under the direction of new Head Coach Collin Miller. Miller was an assistant under former Head Coach Cody Mincey.

Following his graduation from Lampeter-Strasburg High School in Lancaster, PA, Miller played baseball collegiately at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. He was a physical education major and went on to earn his Master in the Art of Teaching in 2018.

Miller, 26, served as an assistant baseball coach for Wesley College for two years, before joining the staff of the Myrtle Beach Surf as an assistant coach. He also coached the Elite travel team from 2016-2018.

Miller’s trek to the Lowcountry was influenced by his fiancé, who was earning her doctorate at MUSC. “My finance and I moved down for her to receive her doctorate at MUSC,” said Miller. “Moving down helped me to find a school to start my teaching career, along with continuing my coaching career.”

“I am ecstatic to start this journey,” said Miller. “Being coached and working with some great head coaches over the years has helped to mold me for this opportunity. Going through high school my head coach (Todd Garber) instilled confidence and how to play the game the right way along with how to prepare as a player. When moving to the collegiate level, Bret Underwood showed me what it took to take certain pieces of a player’s game and take it to the next level. Coach Underwood also gave me my first opportunity to be an assistant coach and learn under him for two seasons.”

“We discussed our goals for the season as a team,” said Miller. “We decided that making it to playoffs is the goal. Playing well inside of our region during the regular season and making it to the playoffs and seeing what happens when we get it.”

“My personal goal is to command the room when coaching and to bring these players to the next level,” said Miller. “We have a good mix of players that have some varsity experience along with some young guys that are up and coming. Finding the right fit of players along with winning games is going to be a challenge, but I believe that I am up for that challenge this season.”
