A Walterboro man accidentally shot himself while walking down Verdier Street, near Park Avenue, in Walterboro. The incident occurred on March 8th. According to information provided by local officials, the man was carrying a pistol in his pocket: the pistol fell, discharged and he was struck in the leg with a bullet. The man was in stable condition and was taken to Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. The Walterboro Police Department is investigating.
