A 42-year-old Walterboro man is charged with indecent exposure after he was caught exposing himself to several patrons near the Wal-Mart parking lot in Walterboro.
Officers were called to Bells Highway in Walterboro at about 6 p.m. on August 25th when several people reported seeing the suspect – 42-year-old Rashied Sledge – with his pants around his ankles. The man’s underwear were pulled up at the time that officers arrived; however, the suspect told officers he was trying to “wash his pants” when they arrived on scene, as an explanation as to why he was not wearing pants in a public area, according to a Walterboro Police Department incident report.
Multiple witnesses told officers that they saw the suspect with his pants around his ankles in the “tall grass” next to Murphy’s gas stations. One witnesses also told officers that they saw the suspect’s genitals while he walked through the parking lot.
However, the suspect told officers he was defecating when those people saw him.
Managers at Wal-Mart told officers they want the suspect put on trespass notice from the store, meaning he is not allowed to legally return to the property.
The man was taken into custody and charged with indecent exposure. He was taken to the Colleton County Detention Center in Walterboro.
