Local Business Spotlight: Golden Daffodil

Erik Lindstrum opened the golden daffodil eleven years ago on Halloween. He originally opened an antique store in the front of the center section of the building he was renting on Washington Street. Business grew and Lindstrum started renting the building next door and then I bought the building. Not only does Golden Daffodil upholster furniture, but they build furniture from scratch using very old techniques. They do mortise and tenon frames, gateway hand tied springs and other traditional techniques. They also have embroidery machines and work a lot with the dye sublimation printing process. With all those tools, Lindstrum says, “We can do really cool stuff, we’ve done furniture with embroidery and sublimit fabric on it. We’d have created a whole piece from the ground up. Ninety percent of Golden Daffodil business is custom work”.

Lindstrum’s first goal was to just be able to pay the rent now we’re growing daily with five employees and six-month backlog. Two years ago, his sister Kierston had a graphic design business in Florida felt stuck and was burnt out. He told her to come to work with me. And now they just play and do fun art projects for a living.

Golden Daffodil is located at 356 East Washington St. in Downtown Walterboro. For More Information: companycasuals.com/goldendaffodil.
