Consignment Envy at 813 Bells Highway is under new ownership. Blue
Benton and Erin Padgett are the new coowners of the store. Padgett explains, “Annette, Benton’s Mother and former owner, decided that she was going to take a step back. She had this store as well as the store she continues to operate on Washington Street called Downtown Envy. She just needed to take a little a little break from working so much so she approached us about buying her store. So we bought it back in January.”
Padgett continues, “The new Consignment Envy is all consignment,
there are no booths, so that eliminates a little bit of confusion. We also have
the Gardening Center, which has been a really big deal for us and for the whole community. We have vegetables, herbs, flowers and trees, just about anything you can think of. So that’s been a really, great addition. The plants are Blue's department, because she is the plant guru. We’ve also got Jamie Copeland and his mom, Patricia Utsey coming and helping us in the garden department twice a week. That’s been a great addition, because Jamie and his mom ran the potting shed for years and years in town.”
We get shipments in almost every single day and we have designated sections to help locate items such as men’s, and women’s clothing as well as a section with jewelry and assorted items.”
Padget spoke about the consignment agreement, “Our consignment agreement is a 90 day agreement, after 30 days, we’re able to discount everything 20% and clothes 50% after 60 days, we discount 40% and then after 90 days, we discount 75% and at the 90 day mark, consigners are able to come and pick their items up, otherwise, they become part of the store
inventory. We price everything, and research each item to make sure we price things properly.
Padget added, “We’ve just had a great response from the community since
we’ve taken over the store, and we’re really just trying hard to fill Annette
Bradley’s shoes. We have a lot of people that come in every day asking about her, and we just tell them, just go visit our sister store downtown.”
