Local athletes recognized

With the conclusion of spring sports, several athletes have earned post season recognition. Colleton County Softball team had a great season. The Cougars dominated the schedule winning 25 games while losing only 4. They would also win the region with a 9-1 record and make it to the finals of the lower state championship. Their efforts would result in Coach “Tootie” Edwards being selected as Region Coach of the year. In addition, Shandi Brown was named to the all-region team as well as being named all-state. Fellow teammates, Jordan Slocum, Bailey Cox and Makayla Chisolm were also named to the all-region team. The Colleton County Boys Baseball team finished with a record of 9-14 overall and 4-6 in the region. That earned them a fourth-place finish in the region and a spot in the playoffs. Cam Farnsworth, Michael Ortiz and Devein Varner would all make all region. Colleton Prep War Hawks softball team would win their region and advance to the state semi-finals before being eliminated. The Hawks would have Linley Jones, Becca Martin, Sydney Stivender, and Ava Murray make the North-South all-state team, In addition, Murray, Lana Catterton, Jones, Sidney Bailey Martin, Addison Crosby, Hannah Strickland, and Mckenzie Pellum all made all-region. The Colleton Prep Boys baseball team finished with a record of 10-11 overall and 2-2 in region play. They were eliminated in the first round of the play-offs. Those making all-region included 12th graders, Caden Crosby and Hayden Wiilliams, 11th graders Dustin Hadwin and Wylan Sheffield and 10th grader Brice Kinard.
