Lady Indians improve to No. 10 in Nation in NJCAA DII

The Salkehatchie Lady Indians improved to the No. 10 spot in the Women’s Basketball NJCAA Division II Week Nine poll, which was published March 22. 

The Lady Indians are 13-0 overall and 9-0 in conference play. A game scheduled for March 24 against Cape Fear was postponed until April 2 due to travel issues for the Sea Devils. 

Freshman shooting guard Mariah Igus is leading the NJCAA Division II in points per game, averaging 27.5. 

In addition, the Lady Indians are making noise in team stats leading in points per game, averaging 103.6, and in field goals made per game with 512-1094 (46.8 percent). They are also in the top-10 in points (10th); field goal attempts per game (3rd); field goal percent (4th); 3-points made per game (4th); 3-point percent (2nd); free throw made per game (8th); free throw attempt per game (6th); off rebounds per game (5th); assists per game (7th); steals per game (2nd); and blocks per game (7th).

The Lady Indians have three regular season games remaining. They will host Catawba Valley on Wednesday, March 31 before traveling to Bryant & Stratton (VA). The final home game of the regular season is scheduled for Saturday, April 3 against Cape Fear with a tip-off at 1 p.m.
