The Colleton Prep Lady Hawk Basketball team is waiting to learn their playoff fate as brackets look to be released Tuesday Feb. 18. Finishing the regular season 9-13 overall and 3-7 in conference play, the Lady Hawks may snag a No. 3 seed behind Hilton Head Christian (9-0) and John Paul II (6-3). Beaufort Academy (7-3) competed in Region I-AA, but as a flex and should move into I-A for playoffs, leaving Colleton Prep as the third seed.

The Lady Hawks finished the regular season with a win over Thomas Heyward (37-26) and losses against Andrew Jackson (55-46) and Beaufort Academy (62-33).

Against Andrew Jackson on Monday Feb. 10, Langley Harter scored 16 points and Heather Davis chipped in 13. Other scoring included Taylor Tomedolskey 8, Rianna Bailey 7 and Hannah Strickland 2.

“It was not our night against Andrew Jackson,” said Coach Nicole Cain. “We have beaten them twice in close games but last Monday was just not our night. It was Andrew Jackson’s Senior Night and they had the momentum to go along with the night. Rachel Wright was out with an illness and her presence was missed.”

In the home loss to Beaufort Academy Wednesday Feb. 12, Harter led with 16 points. Wright scored 8 points in the first quarter before leaving the game with an illness. Davis scored 5 points, Bailey 2 points, and Tomedolskey 2 points.

“Beaufort is a tough team,” said Cain. “We went into the half down by 8 points — which was definitely a deficit that could be recovered from. But they held us to 3 points in the third quarter and we let them score 18. After that, we couldn’t recover.”

Colleton Prep’s last regular season win came on the road against Thomas Heyward, where Harter again led scoring with 15 points in the game. Other scoring included Davis 7, Wright 6, Bailey 5 and Tomedolskey 4.
