JV Cougars go 2-0 in preseason tourney

The Colleton County Junior Varsity Cougar Baseball team went 2-0 is the annual CCHS JV Preseason Tournament Saturday held February 26 – March 3 at Colleton County Recreation Center. The JV Cougars earned wins over Bamberg-Ehrhardt (8-2) and Oceanside (4-1).

In game one against Bamberg-Ehrhardt, Colleton County scored five runs in the fourth inning to seal the win with Xavier Oxner, RJ Adams, and Alejandro Marin contributing with RBIs. Jamaure Manigo and Adams each recorded a hit in the game and Da’Veon Varner had two stolen bases.

Jamaure Manigo earned the start for the JV team, going three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out eight. Oxner threw one and one-third innings in relief.

Da’Veon Varner started on the mound for the JV Cougars in the win over Oceanside. Varner lasted four innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out eight. RJ Adams went 2-3 on the day to lead Colleton County at the plate. Varner, Landon Johnson, Desi Brown, and Toby Olvera had a hit-a-piece.
