The Salkehatchie Indians improved to 17-9 overall and 8-3 in Region X following a 72-57 win over Denmark Technical College on Feb. 16th on the road. The Indians are currently in first place in Region X standings with three games remaining before the post-season tournament begins.

An earlier loss to Denmark Tech on January 18 was recently forfeited by Denmark Tech due to an ineligible player on the roster, improving the Indians Region X record.

Lee Langstaff led Salkehatchie with 20 points and 3 rebounds in the game. Derrick Sinkler added 16 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Other scoring included Tre’Von Spillers with 10 points; Kailee White with 9; Trevur Smalls with 8; Stephan Gadson with 5; and Kharye Cayne with 4 points.

“This was a great win on the road tonight,” said Interim Head Coach Matthew Bennett. “I felt like it was probably our best half we have played all season. We did an excellent job of sharing the ball and we were really good defensively. The players are finally buying in to what we have been working on in practice.”

Salkehatchie will host Gaston College on Tuesday, February 22 in the last home game of the season before traveling to Wilmington, North Carolina on Friday, February 25 to face Cape Fear College. The following day they will finish the regular season against Brunswick College in Bolivia, North Carolina.
