Holiday crash

Vehicles attempting to avoid slow-moving traffic on Interstate 95 detoured onto Lowcountry Highway (U.S. Highway 21) on Dec. 26th, creating another bumper-to-bumper traffic nightmare. During this time, two southbound vehicles were trying to pass slower-moving vehicles on Lowcountry Highway when those vehicles collided, causing a minivan (shown above) to leave the road and then strike a utility pole. The pole was broken in half: trees were set on fire and power was out in the area. The adult female driver of the mini van received serious injuries. She was taken to Colleton Medical Center. The male driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
