Mrs. Ruth Bishop Hoff, 91, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, July 10, 2023, at Colleton Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Russell Wilton “Bill” Hoff, to whom she was married 69 years. She was born July 24, 1931 in Walterboro. She worked in various retail stores throughout her life but will be remembered most for her time at Thompson’s 5 and 10 on Main Street. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was active with the Women’s Missionary Union. Mrs. Ruth loved to bake and enjoyed sitting outside talking with her neighbors. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are: her daughter, Leverne Hoff Howard and her husband Luke of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Addison Howard and Caroline Howard, both of Denver, Colorado; great granddaughter, Ruth Elizabeth Howard; and her beloved cat, Sammy. Funeral services were held 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment followed in Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
