Thomas Reeves III, 34, was placed under arrest after leading deputies on a high-speed chase.
On Monday Nov. 30, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2004 beige Toyota Camry on Dandridge Road for a traffic infraction. Upon initiating their blue lights, the vehicle began accelerating at high rates of speed.
In an attempt to safely disable the vehicle, deputies deployed tire deflation devices on McLeod Road. The driver erratically maneuvered the car around the devices, and the attempt was unsuccessful. During this time, dispatch advised the vehicle tag had been reported stolen from Charleston County.
The chase continued into Dorchester County, reaching speeds up to 123 mph. The driver attempted to squeeze between two vehicles in downtown St. George and wrecked into the driver’s side of a Kia Optima. There were no injuries, and deputies apprehended the driver at the scene.

Upon further investigation, the vehicle had been reported stolen in Beaufort County. Deputies found drug paraphernalia, baggies, scales and hypodermic needles inside a magnetic box attached underneath the car after conducting a vehicle search.
Reeves was placed under arrest and is charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen goods, and driving under suspension second offense.
Reeves received an $18,395 bond and remains in custody at the Colleton County Detention Center.
