Two people were trapped following a high-speed single vehicle accident on Hendersonville Hwy north of Yemassee on January 13th. The small pickup truck left the roadway, crossed the ditch, and struck several trees with a portion of one tree landing on the roof of the truck. The driver and passenger were both trapped in the vehicle. Colleton County Fire-Rescue Crews stabilized the truck and used rescue tools to extricate the female occupant from the truck and transport her to Colleton Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Crews extricated the male patient who suffered multiple traumatic injuries and transported him to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
