WALTERBORO: Mr. Scott Maxwell Haskell, husband of Dorothy Jean Crews Haskell, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 28, 2023 at the Pruitt Healthcare Center in Walterboro. He was 80.
Mr. Haskell was born in Charleston, SC December 13, 1943 and was a son of the late Harry H. Haskell Sr. and Audrey Groves Haskell. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War Era. For 28 years, he was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Charleston Fire Department, retiring in 1993 with the rank of Captain.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three step-children: Dianne Tomberlin (Mike) of Forsyth, GA, Jewel Napier of Charleston, and Donald G. “Don” Clifton Jr. of Macon, GA. He leaves behind four siblings: Jennifer H. Tyrrell (Jonathan) of Charleston, Cynthia H. Green (Greg) of Richmond, VA, Harry Haskell Jr. (Kerrie) of Gerogia, and Henry W. Haskell (Lisa) of Charleston. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Mehl Hart, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Denise Stafford, a step-daughter Pamela “Pam” Mixson, and a sister, Debra Hart.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro. Family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Committal services, with military honors provided by the United States Army, will be held at 2:00 that afternoon at the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundry Street in Beaufort, SC.
