Mrs. Carolyn Crosby Hann, 89, of Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday evening, July 19, 2023, at her residence.  She was the widow of the late Donald MacArthur Hann. Born September 3, 1933, in Colleton County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Crosby and Zura Herndon Crosby.  After graduating from Walterboro High School, Carolyn worked at The Citadel for a brief time before she married her Marine in May 1955.  She gave birth to two boys while stationed at Parris Island and then the family headed west to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  There, in 1960, Carolyn gave birth to her third child and started her civil service career at Kirkland Air Force Base.  In 1981, Carolyn transferred to the Charleston Naval Base to be closer to her mother and family.  In 1985, Carolyn chose a life of sobriety by committing herself to AA.  Upon doing so, she dedicated herself to spreading the message of sobriety to countless others in the lowcountry.  Her other love was music, either to dance or sing to.  Carolyn loved an upbeat tune.  Her abiding love of gospel music has brought her the most comfort.  From remembering hymns sung in church long ago to camp meeting sing-a-longs on video, she enjoyed it all.  She was a faithful and devoted member of Edgewood Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir when she was able.  She was an example of faith in that she started a prayer box, years ago, where she would “Let Go and Let God” answer her prayers.  If you knew Carolyn your name was in that box, at least once! Surviving are: her children, Donald M. Hann, Jr. (Terri Lloyd) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Steven B. Hann of Washington, Pennsylvania, and Sherry Hann Weber of Walterboro; grandchildren, Melissa Weber, Kyler Hann, Aedon Hann, Eleana Hann, and Shelyce Hann; and a great grandchild, Asher Hann.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Crosby. The family would like to especially thank Intrepid Hospice for the love and support they have given over the past two and a half years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity that was especially close to Mrs. Carolyn: The Smile Train, Post Office Box 96231, Washington, DC 20090-6231. Funeral services were held 11 o’clock, Monday, July 24, 2023, at Edgewood Baptist Church, 126 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro.  Interment will be held privately on Tuesday at Beaufort National Cemetery.
