Two people were injured, one seriously, in a head-on collision on Green Pond Hwy. south of Possum Corner Road on Tuesday, May 12th. A north bound Toyota Camry collided head-on with a south bound utility truck, trapping the driver of the Camry. The driver of the pickup truck received non-life-threatening injuries and was able to exit his vehicle. The driver of the Camry suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Neither driver were wearing seatbelts. Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics treated both patients at the scene and used Rescue Tools to extricate the driver from the Camry. The driver was extricated, then transported to the Trauma Center at Trident Hospital in North Charleston by Fire-Rescue Ambulance. Green Pond Highway in the area of the accident was blocked for 1-1/2 hours. The accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
