Gas line ruptured, no injuries reported

A utility contractor dug into a residential natural gas line in the 400 block of Dandridge Road at 4:13 Wednesday afternoon Sept. 2.

Fire-Rescue units responded, then blocked off a section of Dandridge Rd.

Crews evacuated the homes in the immediate vicinity of the leak until Dominion Energy personnel arrived to secure the gas line.

No one was injured. Firefighters used monitoring equipment to continually check on the gas levels in the area of the leak. Units were on the scene for three-and-a-half hours.
