LUGOFF – Funeral service for Maxine McMillan Fricke, 86, will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bethany Cemetery in Ehrhardt, S.C. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral home. Memorials may be made to March of Dimes.

Mrs. Fricke, wife of the late Edward E. Fricke, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Born in Walterboro, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Judson McMillan and Evelyn Carter Vincent. She was raised on her grandparent’s family farm in Ehrhardt, S.C. She survived polio as a child and was one of the first patients in an Iron Lung.

Mrs. Fricke retired from the South Carolina Budget and Control Board. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Columbia and One Church in Camden and loved both of her church families. She had a passion for Wheat Weaving and was a member of the National Association of Wheat Weavers. She loved to make angels, crosses, dolls and South Carolina Palm Trees out of wheat. Mrs. Fricke also loved being outdoors, bird watching, enjoying flowers and gardening.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca Dinkins; son, Johnny Price (Renee), granddaughter, Crystal Price (Josh); grandsons, Jason Turner, Kyle Price (Jinny) and Alan Price; great-grandchildren, Lacey Martin, Emily Martin, Sarah Martin (Crystal), Keira Price (Kyle); and best friends, Lee Wisel, Bonnie Ashley, Winifred Davis-Reedy and Audry Landers. She was predeceased by son, Franklin Price; and brothers, Marion H. Vincent, Jr. and Henry E. Vincent III. Mrs. Fricke adored her dog, “Lulu”.

Mrs. Fricke’s wish was to publicly thank Dr. Kang of MUSC Health for the compassionate care he gave her.
