For all you do we say thank you

We would like to extend a thank you for all the linemen/linewomen from here and other areas, people who provided a warm meal, washed some clothes, or a word of encouragement to those who came to help, call center operators who fielded the calls from those without power, gas stations that remained open, restaurants that opened as soon as the power came back online, law enforcement agencies and first responder agencies who went out despite the conditions to help anyone who needed them, city and county workers, the hospital who cared for patients already there and had their doors open for those who came in. For anyone who made Helene a little easier to bear and continue to try and ease that load; thank you.

We do not know the time, effort, mental fortitude, and just the physical labor involved in cleaning up after an event like Hurricane Helene and because one area has power, another may not, and the job isn’t done for some. Our local linemen may be sent out to other areas to help where loses include much more than losing power. As of September 30, 2024, 29 people lost their lives due to Hurricane Helene in South Carolina. CBS News reports the death toll in total has reached over 100, and that total for states affected is expected to rise as recovery efforts continue.

Thank you may not be quite enough, but in some instances it is all we have to give to those who step forward and answer the call to help.
