A Johnsville community home was heavily damaged in a mid-afternoon fire on Saturday September 2. 9-1-1 was notified by a neighbor that the residence at 2626 Johnsville Road was on fire. The caller noted flames were coming from the roof. Engine 7 arrived minutes later to find heavy smoke conditions and flames visible from the roof of the double wide mobile home. A portion of the roof in the back of the structure had already collapsed. Crews deployed multiple handlines to the building and made entry through the front door. The home received heavy damage. It appears the fire started from an electrical problem near the exterior A/C unit. The occupant of the home was displaced and is being assisted by the Red Cross. Fire units were on the scene for three hours. One firefighter received minor burns during the incident but did not require hospitalization.
