A singlewide mobile home received substantial damage during an early morning fire at 49 Heavy Feather Lane in the Creeltown Community Thursday morning July 13. Colleton Fire-Rescue arrived to find the residence with smoke and flames coming from the south-end of the building. Crews quickly knocked down the fire which involved two rooms. The fire had entered the void space above the living area and traveled the entire length of the mobile home. Firefighters had to pull the ceilings in every room to reach the flames burning above the ceiling. Crews were on the scene for four hours. The home had no electricity. The occupant was using candles for light and advised one was accidentally knocked over, which he believed started the fire. No injuries were reported.
