An adult female was critically injured in an incident on I-95 near the 44-mile marker northbound on September 17th. A paving crew resurfacing a section of the interstate found the woman lying semiconscious in the median at approximately 2:48 in the morning. The victim had suffered multiple injuries, including a head injury. The construction crew provided care and contacted 911. Colleton County Fire-Rescue from the Jonesville station arrived minutes later and took over her care. CARE Flight flew to the scene and landed on the interstate. The patient was transferred to the flight crew and flown to a trauma center. A construction worker noted a male in a vehicle had driven up to them looking for a woman who reportedly jumped from his moving vehicle, but he fled the scene when emergency responders began to arrive.
