The female driver of a vehicle is believed to have had a medical emergency prior to this crash that occurred on Thursday morning, March 11, near the Planters Trace Shopping Plaza in Walterboro, according to county emergency personnel.
Motorists who stopped to help the female driver reported that she was unconscious behind the wheel, just moments after the crash occurred. When firefighter-paramedics with Colleton County Fire-Rescue arrived on scene, they found her to be in cardiac arrest, according to Barry McRoy, chief of CCFR.
The woman was taken to Colleton Medical Center. She did not survive, according to McRoy.
The Walterboro Police Department is investigating the accident.
