On August 15 a Branchville man died and another man was critically injured in a two vehicle MVC on Sniders Hwy (SC Hwy 63) at the Colleton/Hampton County Line Thursday morning. The incident occurred in Colleton County, but the 9-1-1 cellular call was routed to Hampton County. The accident occurred after a Toyota Tacoma and an Acura ILX collided head-on in a portion of the highway that transverses the Salkehatchie Swamp, just west of Toby’s Bluff Lane. The critically injured man was flown to Trauma Center in Savannah. Traffic on Sniders Highway was blocked for several hours while the Highway Patrol investigated the accident. The deceased man was transported by the Colleton County Coroner’s Office.
