Filing is open for any Edisto Beach resident wanting to run for the unexpired term of former Edisto Beach Town Councilman Crawford Moore.

Moore left his council seat when he was recently elected as the town’s mayor in November.

To fill the remaining term of his seat, Edisto Beach is holding a special election on Tuesday, Feb. 1st, 2022. Filing is now open for any interested candidates, and filing will remain open until noon on Dec. 3rd.

Any interested candidates must be nominated by petition, in according with the town’s governing statues. A candidate’s nominating petition must contain the signature of at least five percent of the qualified registered voters of the town.

Petition forms can be picked up from Edisto Town Hall, located at 2414 Murray Street, or by going online to www.scvotes.gov.

A Statement of Economic Interest Form must also be completed by candidates. This form is available at www.ethics.sc.gov.

On election day, polls will open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. The polling location will be held at Edisto Beach Town Hall, located at 2414 Murray Street.

This is a non-partisan election for council, meaning there is no political affiliation with the seat or the candidate.
