ly by many as “Shorty”, age 100, of Smoaks, entered into rest Wednesday afternoon, July 19, 2023 at his residence.  Born October 26, 1922 in Islandton, he was a son of the late Daniel Edwin Crosby, Sr. and Verna Lizzie Ulmer Crosby.  He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from the Savannah River Plant.  Shorty enjoyed farming and especially loved working the flea markets, particularly in Springfield and Orangeburg. Surviving are: his son, Stanley Edwin Crosby, Sr. and his wife Dorothy of Smoaks; grandchildren, Angie Crosby and Jason Crosby; sister, Yvonne Bird of Walterboro; as well as many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Seagrove; step-daughter, Janita Beckett; grandson, Stanley Edwin “Bubba” Crosby, Jr.; great grandson, Daniel Ryan Crosby; and a brother, Hugh Crosby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. A graveside service was held 10 o’clock, Friday morning, July 21, 2023, at Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Adnah Church Road, Islandton. Arrangements By: The Brice W.
