Crop Damage/Depredation Tags in South Carolina

It can be frustrating for a hunter to miss out on a buck that has been harvested on damage/depredation tags. The National Deer Association (NDA) surveyed state and provincial wildlife agencies to see if their jurisdiction permitted antlered bucks to be harvested on the damage/depredation tags. The survey also questioned whether an antlered buck could be killed on these tags at any time or if it was only under certain circumstances. 65% of the states surveyed only allow the killing of antlered bucks under certain circumstances such as rub damage, threats to human health and safety, and browse damage. In South Carolina antlered bucks can be harvested due to damage due to antler rubbing in nurseries, orchards, etc., according to the NDA report.
