Squatters removed from local house

Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office were called to a Walterboro residence on Sept. 21 when the owner of the property discovered people squatting inside the house. According to a sheriff’s office incident report, the Keegan Drive residence was vacant; however, the owner checked on the property and discovered two people inside the residence. The people are believed to be squatters. Both people were put on trespass notice and told not to return to the residence.

Four-wheeler stolen by brazen burglar
An unknown person parked his vehicle away from a targeted Colleton County house and used a cell phone light to guide him toward that house, where he stole a four-wheeler. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the Green Pond homeowner was awakened during the night on Sept. 21 by her dog, who was barking. She said she looked at her security cameras, and saw the headlights of a vehicle parked at her front gate, which blocks her property from the road. The woman then said she saw a cell phone light underneath her shed, and the truck lights turned back on at 2:11 a.m. The vehicle headed toward Jacksonboro. The next morning, the woman went outside and said she saw that her son’s four-wheeler was stolen. Tracks were leading away from her shed and toward the road, where the truck was parked, the report states. There are no suspects at this time.

Kids pull fire alarm in prank
Authorities were called to Colleton Middle School last week when a student pulled the fire alarm. The incident occurred on Sept. 15th, sending units to the school. It was determined that the alarm being pulled was a student prank, a sheriff’s office incident report states. The alarm was checked by officials with Colleton County Fire-Rescue and it was determined the fire alarm was properly working.

Peeping Tom sought
A Walterboro woman called 911 recently to report that someone was trying to peep into her window. According to a Colleton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the woman called 911 on Sept. 15 and said someone was standing outside her bedroom window trying to look inside her room. There are no suspects at this time.
